Joe Tye

Joe Tye is CEO and Head Coach of Values Coach Inc., which provides consulting, coaching, and training on values-based life and leadership skills for hospital, corporate, and association clients across North America. Through the Values Collaborative, Certified Values Coach Trainers in more than 50 hospitals are sharing the Values Coach course on "The Twelve Core Action Values" with coworkers. Values Coach is dedicated to transforming people through the power of values, transforming organizations through the power of people, and to helping hospitals build a culture of ownership on a foundation of values.

Prior to founding Values Coach in 1994, Joe was chief operating officer for a large community teaching hospital. He was also founding president of the Association of Air Medical Services and a leading activist fighting against unethical tobacco industry marketing practices. He is the author of twelve books, including The Florence Prescription: From Accountability to Ownership. More than 400 hospitals have purchased 80,000 copies of this book to share with employee to help them promote a more positive and productive workplace culture.

Joe earned a master's degree in hospital and health administration from The University of Iowa and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he served as class co-president. He is a dynamic, passionate and entertaining speaker with a powerful message. His presentations are packed with unique insights and practical ideas, richly illustrated by real-world examples, and spiced with humor and stories. During 2011, he gave keynote presentations for 25 state hospital association conferences and conducted leadership retreats and employee events for dozens of hospitals and health systems.
