Anita Rapier is a senior coding consultant with the American Hospital Association's (AHA) Central Office on ICD-9-CM. The AHA Central Office serves as the official U.S. Clearinghouse on medical coding for the proper use of the ICD-9-CM systems and Level I HCPCS (CPT-4 codes) for hospital providers and certain Level II HCPCS codes for hospitals, physicians and other health professionals. She is the managing editor of AHA Coding Clinic® for ICD-9-CM, for which she is responsible for developing educational material for Coding Clinic and has over 25 years of experience in Health Information Management (HIM). Ms. Rapier has held several positions in HIM, involving coding education, quality and compliance, hospital-based outpatient, acute care and long term care settings. She has presented numerous educational seminars and authored articles on coding and compliance. She is also an independent health information management consultant specializing in hospital and physician coding, quality assessment, and compliance. Ms. Rapier is a featured speaker for the popular AHA Coding Clinic® audioseminar series and is an AHIMA-certified ICD-10 Trainer.
